How we work

Three things we will always do.

Education recruitment depends on care, compliance and continuity. Here is how we hold the line on all three.

Vet before we send

Right-to-work, DBS, prohibition checks, references and qualification confirmation. Done before the CV reaches the headteacher's desk.

Brief before we search

A 30-minute call about the school, the year group, the team mix and the must-haves. We send back a written brief to confirm.

Stay close after the offer

Day-7, day-30 and day-90 check-ins with both sides. Issues caught early usually do not become problems.

Specialisms

The ten roles we place into UK schools.

Permanent classroom, leadership and support staff for state-maintained, academy and independent settings.

Primary Teachers

EYFS through to Year 6. NQTs and experienced QTS classroom teachers.

Secondary Teachers

Subject specialists across core and foundation, KS3 to A-level.

SEND Teachers

SENCOs and teachers for SEMH, ASD, MLD and PMLD provisions.

Teaching Assistants

Level 2, Level 3 and HLTAs across primary and secondary.

Cover Supervisors

Long-term cover roles for schools running planned absence cover.

Headteachers

Heads, deputies and assistant heads for primary and secondary settings.

Heads of Department

Subject leaders and curriculum leads in maths, English, science, MFL and humanities.

EYFS Practitioners

Early years practitioners, room leaders and EYFS leads.

Exam Invigilators

Lead and assistant invigilators for GCSE, A-level and internal assessment windows.

School Business Managers

SBMs, finance leads, HR and operational managers for academies and trusts.

Our process

From brief to first day, four steps.

The same approach for an EYFS practitioner or a deputy head. Written, paced, checked.

01

Take the brief

30 minutes on the phone about the school, the team, the brief and the timeline. Written brief returned for sign-off.

02

Search and vet

We approach the network and active candidates. Vet, interview, rank. You receive three to six properly checked candidates.

03

Offer support

We coordinate the offer, notice period, start date, induction. Counter-offer pressure handled before it lands.

04

Aftercare

Day-7, day-30 and day-90 follow-ups. The placement is only successful if the staff member is still in seat at term end.

How a Luca Education brief actually runs

Education hiring is its own discipline. The shortlist matters less than the fit. The wrong Year 5 teacher does not get unwound by the next staff meeting. The wrong head of maths costs a school a cohort. We work hard to get it right first.

Compliance is the floor, not the ceiling

Every candidate has DBS, prohibition list, qualification and reference checks completed before introduction. We are safer recruitment trained and audit-ready. That is the floor. Above it sits the cultural fit, the team mix, the conversation about behaviour policy and SEND provision that makes a placement actually stick.

Calibration before search

If the salary band is below market for the role and the location, we will say so before we start, not after the offer is rejected. UK education pay bands move every year and the right calibration up front saves a wasted fortnight.

Where we focus

Permanent placements only. State-maintained primaries, secondaries, academy trusts, SEND specialist provisions and a small number of independent settings. We do not run supply desks and we do not run nursery group placements. One consultant per school, end to end.
